Buzzfeed x Rebelle Agency Teaches Interns Their Contribution Should Be "More Than Grunt Work"

On August 6th, our team co-hosted an event with Buzzfeed for students and interns of color in New York City. The event consisted of a panel discussion with Skylar Kearney (Social Media, Buzzfeed), Aaron Burwell (Senior Program Manager, SEO) and Chloe Williams (PR Strategist) moderated by our Managing Partner, Tanisha Colon-Bibb. Panelists gave detailed insight about their own intern journeys and valuable action-based ways for current interns to stand out and achieve their professional goals. We also had some fun, the first question for each panelist was to reveal their first internship - one of our guests interned in the finance department for the Georgia Lottery. Far cry from what he does now!

Attendees included student and intern reps from The Oliver Program, Prep for Prep and MAIP and industry professionals from CondeNast, Unilever, Indeed.com and more. After the panel guests took headshots for their professional and social profiles and networked amongst themselves, professionals and various HR representatives from Buzzfeed, Rebelle Agency and more. As an additional, some guests were given the option to have resume and digital brand review from our associated professionals.

Our goal with the concept #morethangruntwork is to serve as guides for talent of color, increase their resources to attain their goals and empower them to know that interning should be more than menial labor. Through more events, social content and engagement opportunities we want to continue to help young talent develop themselves and successfully climb #uphill together.
